Master Model Railroader Clinics

An NMRA member qualifies as a Master Model Railroader when he or she has obtained at least seven of the eleven Achievement Certificates provided that he or she has earned at least one Achievement Certificate in each of the four areas of the Regulations. Earning the title of Master Model Railroader is the ultimate goal for many participants in the Achievement Program. Two of the best Master Model Railroaders are presenting clinics.

“Day Turn USS Kobe-1995” - presented by Dean Freytag, MMR - consists of five dozen plus original USS Kobe slides in the WKW Book “The History, Making and Modeling of Steel” which is a best seller. The book has had a 2nd reprint and is being considered for a 3rd reprint. Questions are welcome and the clinic will mostly likely run over. AS an added benefit, Dean’s layout will be open Thursday afternoon for those traveling to the convention, Friday morning, Saturday and Sunday all day.

“DCC Conversion Made Easy” - presented by Howard Smith, MMR - will provide you with many tips and techniques to convert your DC railroad to DCC power without re-wiring your entire layout. His layout runs flawlessly after using these same ideas. Howard’s personal experiences of converting his large home DC layout to a DCC layout (and back again).

“Estate Planning” - presented by Craig Sonnen, MMR - will provide you with many tips to protect your model railroad and help your family through a very tough transition time.

“Six Decades of Model Railroading” - presented by Allen McClelland, MMR - will cover sixty exciting years model railroading on Allen’s Virginia & Ohio Railroad. This clinic is a one time only special clinic.
